What Do I Wear To Swing Dance?
Common questions about swing dance clothing.

SHOES
Our first answer: "Anything that slides on the floor". We LOVE to slide. It is best to have shoes with leather, felt or suede bottoms. You can also opt for gym shoes with zero tread or grip on the bottom. If you are new to swing, it is best to carry your dance shoes with you. You do not want to walk in wearing them from the parking lot. It tracks in dirt, oils, water, and who-knows-what onto the dance floor. Remember, we love to slide. Plus if you bring in dirt and gravel on your shoes, it is like trying to dance with sandpaper on your shoes. Not to mention it scratches and tears up the nice dance floor of the studio. You can spend up to $150 on snazzy dance shoes. Or grab a pair of $20 gym shoes, a bottle of shoe glue, and slap a piece of leather on the bottom.

CLOTHES
Should you wear a Zoot Suit, Vintage Dress, Sailor Suit, Jean & T-shirt, Skirt, or Pants?
The answer is YES and NO.

We all love to dress up and be snazzy, but you don't have to all the time. The best answer is "what occassion are you dressing for?"
